Aurora Missouri,
An Ozarks Original
Welcome to the City of Aurora, Missouri. Located in the heart of Southwest Missouri, Aurora is just a few short miles from Branson, Springfield, Joplin, beautiful area lakes such as Table Rock and Stockton, and the Mark Twain National Forest. We are a thriving, growing community that provides everything you need for a high standard of living and quality of life. Shopping, eating and entertainment complement the country style living enjoyed by our citizens.
Featured events throughout the year include the Winterfest, celebrating the arts at Christmas time; Annual Car Show, showcasing some of the finest vintage, classic, and custom automobiles and trucks in the state; Two Fly-Ins at Aurora's municipal airport, bringing aircraft enthusiasts from all over the four-state area; and our Annual Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Aurora Chamber of Commerce.
Quality education is the key to any community's viability. Aurora is proud to have two new schools and an educational system lauded by the State of Missouri for Excellence in Education.
Our new public safety facility houses our police and fire departments which are equipped with the latest in technology and are blessed with highly skilled police personnel and firefighters. The rest of the City's staff is also highly professional and dedicated to providing the best service possible to the citizens of Aurora.
Aurora is guided by the following vision: The City of Aurora Missouri, through measured growth and development of new economic opportunities and the enhancement of current community events and recreational offerings, will provide the best quality of life for its citizens.
With that, Aurora works under the following Mission statement: The City of Aurora's primary mission is to provide an outstanding quality of life for everyone who lives and/or works in the city. This is to be accomplished by creating a safe, secure, healthy, and visually pleasing environment coupled with a strong economy. To that end, the city will encourage measured, steady growth; will provide for sound economic development; will ensure the revitalization and stabilization of downtown Aurora; will create and maintain opportunities for industrial and residential development; will ensure no substandard housing or commercial structures exist in the city that create a health or safety hazard for the occupants; and will ensure all city services are delivered at the highest level possible.
Again, welcome to the City of Aurora.
