Aurora Fire Department

The Aurora Fire Department, established in 1887, serves an area of approximately 35 square miles.


The department is staffed with seven full-time and 31 volunteer personnel operating out of two stations, utilizing:

  • 2 brush units
  • 2 light rescue units
  • 3 engines
  • 3 support vehicles
  • 75 foot quint ladder truck
  • Level 3 structure collapse trailer

The department provides a wide range of emergency and non-emergency services, including:

  • BLS First Responders
  • Fire and life-safety presentations and inspections at businesses and community groups
  • Level B Hazardous Materials Response
  • Technical Rescue

Insurance Service Office

Currently, the department holds an ISO (Insurance Service Office) rating of 5, which helps ensure low rates for residential and commercial hazard insurance in Aurora.
